A strange, dramatic, humorous and intriguing adaptation of the novel “The Switch” by Elmore Leonard is this film. The crime duo of Ordell and Louis (John Hawkes and Yasiin Bey) are lead on to kidnap the wife of a real estate developer named Mickey (Jennifer Aniston in a much needed departure and solid performance) for a ransom of one million dollars. The kidnapping goes down hill quickly as the once naive Mickey gets smart and challenges the kidnappers including a White supremacist named Richard, played greatly by Mark Boone Junior.
The ensemble of Aniston, Hawkes, Bey, Tim Robbins, Will Forte, Isla Fisher and Boone Junior make for an engrossing film.
There are a few production companies used to make this film possible. It amazes me the effort to bring this story to screen in this day in age of film where storytelling feels like a lost art.
