"Loving"

A beautiful film. Gorgeous even. Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga give phenomenal performances as Richard and Mildred Loving, respectively, that are quiet and moving. Truly, all of the performances are great and the most eye catching is Nick Kroll, who plays Bernard Cohen, the lawyer from the ACLU who represents the Lovings in court. I appreciate when actors take a role that is different from what the audience is used to.

Writer and director Jeff Nichols brings the audience to the time of this story through the country roads of Virginia to the city life in D.C. The strength of this film is focusing on the love story of the Lovings amidst the adversity of the law and prying eyes of the townsfolk. History is captured in cinema that is relevant to the present.
