An outstanding film with an exceptionally written story, based on actual events, by Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer. As the story is set in Boston, many of the actors in the talented ensemble had the accent down pat. Boston is an essential part of the story. The story also moves at a powerful pace to show how the journalists researched the story, persevered through meeting with victims who did not want to tell their story or working with victims who had doubt (small pun) about telling their story.
Mark Ruffalo gives a passionate performance. Michael Keaton is excellent. John Slattery is commanding. Liev Schrieber plays a reserved character yet shows his incredible acting ability. Stanley Tucci is outstanding. Billy Crudup carries a significant role. Rachel McAdams holds her own as Sacha Pfeiffer, the sole female on the Spotlight writing team. She is a acting treasure.
